Mogwai - 'Mr Beast', for the first time properly and not really enjoying it all that much. Something about the recording of the guitars just seems a bit wrong, especially the ultra distorted bits; they just don't sound big enough.

I'm giving the new TV On The Radio album a spin.
WOAH. On first listen, it sounds like an album-of-the-year contender, up there with Broken Social Scene.

this album is so so great, a real grower. She's pretty different to the other female singer-songwriters out there at the moment. Really great at creating moods- perfect especially to spend long evenings- nights- early mornings with someone special

She used to date Jeff Buckley back in the day apparently, I'm now wondering if they ever made any music (actual music, no metaphor here) together. She's a lot more understated than him, less ego I'd imagine, less showing off (don't get me wrong, I love Jeff!) but maybe they'd compliment each other well on record. Or maybe it would have been a disaster. Who knows. XX
