You will, Oscar, you will. If you stay with it, it becomes your fave TV show. It happened to all my friends, my family, everyone. Patience is the key!

But that doesn't stop the 1st two and a bit episodes from being the awful joke vaccums that they were. If it was a good comedy (and just good or passable, not incredible) then it should be hilarious from the start and you wouldn't have to resort to what you just said.

QUOTE
they are geniuses, and lovely chaps too. i knew it would never cross over to a tv audience - they're never actually nasty to anyone.

What exactly do you mean by this? And they aren't "geniuses" in any sense of the word; they are merely stealing ideas from a whole host of people, something which I'd look the other way from if the end product was worthy. As it stands, it isn't.

Whilst it would be in the interests of the greater good to let this information pass you all by, I'll let you know that The Mighty Boosh is back on BBC2 tomorrow, incase you were unaware:

Sunday 27 February
11:35pm - 12:05am
BBC2

I presume it's just the BBC resuming the 1st series run as I think they didn't finish showing it.

Oh,and a show called Arrested Development is on before it at 11:15pm. If you're going to catch the Boosh you could do no worse than to watch this beforehand.

B1oodFlower- 02-26-2005
There's something indefineably good about this show its surreal and amusing at the same time: Cunning methinks

iloveculture- 02-26-2005
If you mean Arrested Development, then yeah..perhaps, even if it does wear its Seinfeld influence on its sleeve.

If you mean The Mighty Boosh, then I'm so sorry

B1oodFlower- 02-26-2005
Never seen Arrested Development.... hmm

Ill check it out I used to like Seinfeld

Queueman- 02-27-2005
Listen, Mighty Boosh should be aplauded for its sureality...
its sooo much more entertaining than anything else that ive had the displeasure of witnessing over the past few months..
maybe it is a little off the wall but nevertheless, its bloody crazy an funny at the same time... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Comradestripe- 02-27-2005
The Mighty Boosh sounds terrible to me, but I'll watch it tonight to see what it's like. I'll definitely be checking Arrested Development.

The thing is though, it fucking shouldn't. Watch an episode of Monty Python or The Young Ones for a good grasp of the surreal. The Boosh's idea of surreal is just to have talking fucking gorillas.

And thats it though, it isn't 'off the wall''. It's just tedious and dull. I tried to watch last night's episode again as I thought I'd give Julian Barrat another go since his performance in Nathan Barley was (REACTS INCREDULOUSLY) rather good. I didn't even make it to the end of the episode, I was so fucking irritated. The guy with the Topman hair needs a good fucking kicking too. And I am not a violent man by any means.

Re: Arrested Devlopment. Did anyone catch it? What did you think? Some of it wouldn't appeal unless you know the backstory, but that was one of the best episodes of the show I'd ever seen, I watched it again last night having seen it a few days earlier on BBC4 and I noticed things that I had missed previously. The fact that Michael's son is named Geogre Michael = funnier than any toss the Boss have spewed out.

Queueman- 02-28-2005
God..u take life way to seriously!...
Ok so you didnt like the Boosh..I know plenty of people that do..and in other episodes the fellow with the 'Topman' hair is genuinely funny..So let others like it.and in my opinion, and i dont care if The Boosh is ripping it off,Monty Python was always crap an overated.

Not in the ones I've seen. But fair enough.

I'm not stopping you from liking it am I?

Oh, why was I taking you seriously before again?

How many episodes of Flying Circus have you seen then?

Cue "I dunno, i turned it off it was shite..whats monty python again?" response

And I'm sorry, but you started the antagonism here. Why do you even care if I think The Mighty Boosh is shite? What difference does it make to you if I find it derirative and dull? You can't be that confident in your liking of it if it just takes a few negative remarks by me to get you all worked up.

Paul- 02-28-2005
monty python was/is genius..

how dare you "waves fist"

Cant comment on The Mighty Boosh as i have never sat down and watched it properly.

the guy with the indie hair cant act though. Was he any good at stand up??

Queueman- 02-28-2005
happy.gif ..aah well.I never got Monty Python. It just didnt make me Laugh..
An the guy with the hair..well thats the point, there not meant to be able to act.
Apparently hes the fastest word for word comedian out there.which im not sure if is a good thing or not.
Best Stand up?...ROSS NOBLE..the man is indeed a genius.Everytime i see him that happens---> giittv/laugh.gif giittv/roll.gif

Paul- 02-28-2005
I cant act either, does that mean i can get my own TV program

wink.gif

Queueman- 02-28-2005
Ok Iloveculture i went a bit OTT ill admit..I do genuinely love the Boosh, ive seen all the episodes and they all made me laugh.surely thats enough and it dont make me an idiot for liking it.(i no you never actually said i was)..
And you cant take me seriously because i dont like Monty Python?..I have watched more or less every episode.my dads a huge fan...yet i just didnt like it..an that is ok isnt it?...
and dont make me out to sound American. sad.gif
i would never wish that on everyone. sad.gif

Ok and in rereading my opinion of Monty Python, yes i was a wee bit harsh.Crap and overated may be a bit extreme yet i like the things i like so i,quite badly if im being honest, attempt to defend them.

The reason i said you that you took it too seriously was because you seem intent to give the Boosh a bad name..it seems to me that your not content on just letting things be?

And dont question my liking of it.I dont like things because there 'cool' or the latest fad..I like them because i simply do.Is that ok?

ps..i never started the Antagonism..i just said Mighty Boosh was good.
And if i did seem hostile then fair enough.you no why i did?..maybe because you seem intent on taking anyones opinions that dont match your own and disecting them with your clever use of quotes to ridicule that particular persons opinion.I just find it patronising.

pss..Paul,did you ever see Garth Marenghi?..now that was bad acting!!. laugh.gif
and if you want your own TV show who am i to stop you! tongue.gif

Paul- 02-28-2005
I did... i liked Gareth Marenghi.

wouldnt buy the DVD but i liked it.
The bad acting was in context though.

anyway what do i know. I laugh at Will and Grace.

Actually I would buy THAT happy.gif
