2. he's talking about the SELF CONFESSED ones.

and they do exist in abundance. i went to a private grammar school for 4 years, and i was surrounded by the fuckers. people drivin to school in their 25 grand cars when theyre 17. its sick.

Ta for pointin that out..forgot to mention it.
Yeh the ones who are rich, snobby and proud..
Ive got nothing against people being rich,as i made countless good friends at school who didnt let there priveleges go to there head..and i have countless good friends with the shoe on the other foot...(if thats the right phrase to use!)

I went to a school in Hale Barns(edit=not to boast or owt!,i got lucky!),known for the numerous millionaires and footballers that live there..(Kev Keegan had a custom built house about 100 metres away from my school and we egged Roy Keanes house about four years ago!.ssshhh!! happy.gif )
And at this school it was a joke...Many students often went on several holidays a year and several actually had a butler pick them up ohmy.gif
It was like the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air! tongue.gif...yet more snobby rolleyes.gif

yep. posh place. think i looked at that place, but went with Bolton School instead biggrin.gif

Heroin...evil evil. I understand what you are saying queueman. I'm the first to admit how lucky I am and i'm incredibly grateful too.
But the point that I was trying to make is that i may be lucky etc... but that doesn't mean that i'm spoilt. In fact i've never had any financial support ever. Not because my parents didn't want to help but because they couldn't.
My Dad's been bankrupt twice! He's a mad hippy who now lives in a derelict farmhouse in Brittany with his soldiers (weed plants). My family are bit weird actually....

I went to 14 schools (12 before the age of 10) because of the drug thing and it was so unsettling. I remember once I went to a school in Herne Hill when I was 8 and got beaten up by the tough girl because of the way that I spoke. It was ridiculous.

It's only in recent years that i've come across people who have had to deal with the drug thing. As a kid I was teased because no one believed me which resulted in me running away from boarding school...but's that another story! Actually the heroin thing is another topic all together really isn't it.
As Caf would say We're playing class!

Queueman- 03-04-2005
Oh yeah i completely understand...I know not all rich kids are spoilt and thats what i tried to say earlier..
I dont for one second think your a snob because i know not to generalise and i dont wish to because it often unfairly portrays people in the wrong light..
That sounds really tough on you SL and im sorry to hear that.
Each class,in my opinion, often has problems that are seemingly unique to that class due to the link to financial well being..
For example the money problem your parents were unfortunate to have, the bigger you are the harder you fall etc..and with my family we have/have had countless financial problems, for example im rather nifty at hiding from the old baylifs! happy.gif ..
Yet the only real point i wish to make was for people not to generalise and let prejudices bias there view on life, like dont presume that Rich=Snob and Poor=Chav...I would say that the chav/snob are the extreme wrong of their respected class...

And Heroin??.... dry.gif mad.gif
I F##king hate the stuff soooooooooo badly...

I agree completely!

Legalize it all and properly control it..Prohibtion doesn't work, the americans proved that with the alcohol fiasco....

oh an get some slippers happy.gif

I hate to be seen as simplifying this debate but isn't it simply true that there is scum in ALL classes. I come from a working class family, yet I qualified into an upper/middle class career (not always a good thing, but thats another story) so I have seen all sides. There are bastards at every level (either working class people who want to rob you/ talk about ringtones all day/spit on you/litter everywhere or middle/ upper classes who are detached from reality, spoilt, and corporate bullys).

But if you are brought up correctly, and stay true to your own values then you can end up being proud of how you conduct yourself. What really annoys me is when kids who are collared for anti social behaviour use the whole 'oh we are poor and bored' get out. Or there is this glamour given to street kids and yobbos, with this whole 'working class glamour get out clause'. I managed to do OK for myself without hanging about on buses all day, etching on windows, and picking fights. Its all down to the individual.

As you said, its down to the individual..i avoided the scummy lifestyle..yet i think its because, and i know it may sound arrogant, their simply not as intelligent as you or i..they are weak minded sheep who tend to go along with the crowd in a bid to look cool because their normally young lads/girls who cant really think for themselves and they follow the crowd..
Ive seen it happen soo much to so many polite young kids who lived near me..i was about 5 yrs older, say i was about 16 and they were about 11 just going into secondary school, and i honestly enjoyed the friendly neighbours kick about we had.I know see them just three years later and theyve become cocky little thieving chavs which sickens me to the stomach.. dry.gif
This is just one of sooo many example i could tell. This topic is so close to my heart because it often affects me on a day in day out basis so im glad LL brought it up.ta. happy.gif

tabithapirate- 03-04-2005
Queueman - what do you do?

Queueman- 03-04-2005
No i dont do like voluntary work or anything but its the troubles that the little shits around where i live bring...
for example..The police are always knocking on doors looking for them..
My dads a bus driver and often gets torrents of abuse from them and even stones etc threw at his bus potentially endagering his life etc...
My brothers school years were ruined by chavvy bullies who made his mid teens traumatic and as a result he will probably never reach his full potential..
I seriously cant walk to my local shop after say,7pm,on my own because i will get confronted or mugged etc...
I could go on and on forever..
It just immensely winds me up...
So because ive lived with this, and the litle shits in question!, for so long, and experienced a really really posh school, and lived with the snobs!,its left me various passionate opinions and as a result its something i feel strongly about. happy.gif

That happened to me as well. Some of my old friends at primary school weren't academically clever or confident, so almost overnight they turned into violent, aggressive chavs. It's such a shame, isn't it?

but that's something I'm talking about.
people becoming something because of society around them.

And richey, I can read, I did see he said self-confessed, but then trolling out the silver spoon stereotype is the sort of misinformed disrespect I'm talking about. even if, which it was, of course, an attempt at humour.

Yeh and i was saying how they dont have a choice...their not proud of it..they become cocky and arrogant and thus on the defensive on their way of life...I just feel that they shouldnt be blamed..Its not mostly their fault, its societies, capitalism and the gradual decline of high schools etc...
Ok in some of their cases it is down to the crappy individual..im not stupid but a large percentage of them are shaped that way.

As i earlier said..Im not prejudice, and people who act in this prima dona way do not deserve respect anyways.
Its not misinformed,i happen to be very informed thanks. smile.gif
And Its not disrespect, just a use of a cliche, not to be grudgeful, and anyways, the kind of people i was talking about were snobs,NOT rich people, theirs a difference, cant you see?
I wasnt implyin all rich people were like that, because if you read my other posts then i quite clearly state that i have many rich friends and im not prejudice at all. smile.gif

Oh an still dont get why us Lower classed should have respect for certain members, not all of them, of the upper class anyways?,they look down their nose at us..id say that this is often misinformed disrespect wouldnt you? happy.gif

You're doing it yourself now. biggrin.gif "Us versus them".

I'm not saying it's their fault either. I'm quesitoning WHY it's happened that the society that is shaping more and more people is a society that seems to be spawning more and more scum.
Just to reiterate, it is not my belief - nor ever was it - that lower classes = poor = chavs/scum.

Hes right,he didnt say that, that was me saying he had,i thought he had implied that because of an unclarified first post which left me a wee bit confuddled!! huh.gif happy.gif
So sorry for that mistake!..

QUOTE

I simply did the us vs them thing to emphasise my point, because you had earlier in the topic said..
QUOTE

I'm starting to think that society is very slowly falling back into a society divided clearly by class.
The lower classes seem to have a lot more disregard for the higher classes now than at other times in my life, I feel, but are now proud about it and don't want to move up. Why? Look at your children for gods sake.

...which im my opinion was a very "us vs them" attitude, and i simply said us because i am one of the lower class and its bloomin easier to write us then Lower class all the time! happy.gif ( I know i have quoted the first post here which was wrote ages ago but when i had made a prior point, in another post, this was what i had in mind,so im not simply just bringin the past up for no reason of that makes sense!)

Oh and if you read the paragraphs above that quote of me that you used its made quite clear that i am not prejudice at all..I hate prejudices.. this us thing was just used to get my point across happy.gif

QUOTE

My posting about the reason chavs turn into what they are was more a slight tangent on the topic than a direct response to you in many cases..I know what your questioning,i just found myself coming back to the same point because of other posts by other forumers..sorry for any incovenience happy.gif
As in response to the question Bill earlier pointed out that Capitalism simply encourages a society divided by wealth, and where there is a divison there tends to be groups, and where there is groups their tends to be a gang mentality which leads to prejudices...hence the resulting anymosity between the two extreme mentalites of the classes...There will be jealously of course from some of the lower class directed towards the higher, and there will be snobbery and smugness from some of the higher classes directed towards the lower classes, and until this goes then there will always be a divide...
Unless everyone earns equal and gets the same then their will always be these negative sides of life to contend with..and if everyone were equal??..then that would end up being almost communist and we wouldnt want that now would we!..
Right its dead late, ive just got in from work...dont ask!.. mellow.gif ....and im probably making no sense whatsoever due to immense tiredness so dont be to critical in the response!.. biggrin.gif
