I'm Cat and I co-run a weekly gig night in Lancaster called Feedback with my partner, Will. We've put on the likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Great Lake Swimmers, Scout Niblett, King Creosote, Jim Noir, volcano! and Ariel Pink (www.feedbacklancaster.co.uk).
We're now also managing the excellent Superkings and are looking for gigs. They’re happy to headline or support. We’re looking to get them as many gigs as possible over the summer.
Please listen to some tracks at their website www.superkings.org or www.myspace.com/thesuperkings or we can send you a CD if you prefer - just let us know your address and we'll pop one in the post.
Please email us at feedbacklancaster@yahoo.co.uk if you can help in any way.
Cheers,
Cat
Press blurb:
The Superkings are a North West four-piece (including piano, cello and guitar) with influences ranging from Nick Cave and Paul Simon to Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel. Over the three years of the band's existence they have tried to simply capture what excites them about songwriting and performance and use it to create songs that range from the raucous to the melancholy.
They have become live favourites in their hometowns playing prestigious support slots with Jeffrey Lewis, Okkervil River, Isobel Campbell and The Great Lake Swimmers.
They have been described as an intricate and bitter piano-pop outfit, taking in slow, melodic love songs as well as upbeat jazz-inbued punk music. The Superkings' lyrics tend to come straight from a scarred heart or humorous mind, hinting at mainstream influences from The Beatles and The Smiths. The band has a powerful, moving sound, with some beautifully penned songs. Little Hope, Hit The Ground Running and Good To Have You Home are already classics in their own world.
