yeah, Art Brut are lovely innit? and delightful drinking partners if not reprehensible CD thieves. all that angular lot have the promise to go stellar, in particular the boyfriends and the long blondes... i'd give some support to luxembourg too, but i prefer to insult my own bands so they're just shocking! yay!
p.s. any Rhesus stuff available online? i'm keen to hear and i'm sure the other luxemboys would be too!

Many many great new bands and artists to get exited about recently
- from across the pond you have the fantastic WALKMEN- leadin with the brilliant debut tune 'the rat'- already the tune of the year! Roll on Reading weekend when we can hear that tune in all of its live glory! THE STILLS may be arrogant but give that droning sound we all love- changes are no good being the highlight of their decent debut offering. STELLASTAR*- much maligned by many because of 'my coco' provided me with the first band this year to get exited about following the release of 'in the walls' and a memorable live performance with the KILLERS at Leicesters charlotte venue.
Great UK bands have also emerged- needless to say KASABIAN, leicesters own are up there with the rest- well done lads for adding some ballsy tunes to the coral/strokes scene developing at the mo- however the rise of the ZUTONS since a surreal festival performance at v2003 where many were convinced they were romany gypsies to become the most exiting, feel good, truly scouse band from Liverpool. On a different note it is great to see DAMIEN RICE recieve some attention for his beutifully crafted melodies which have emotionally captivated me for the last two years at V. BELL X-1, although un-original provide another success story in light of last years v festival- giving them a glimse of fame- which their tunes do deserve- if easy listening could be defined in a good way then BELL X-1 would fit the bill.
Unsigned bands up and down the country who's music has made an impact- include weymouth's SIZE MATTERS, londons THE LUCAS GROUP and newcastles CLEARWAY. Meanwhile Leicesters local scene really is beginning to happen with EGO ARMALADE ( www.ego-armalde.com ) and of course KALENA ( www.kalena.co.uk ) leading the way! could Leicester be the new liverpool or manchester???? 2005 will reveal.

I saw a young group called Silvermaker supporting the Chris Simmons Band (watch out for TCSB). Silvermaker weren't anything special, but their frontwoman was amazing. fantastic oice and stage presence like she's been fronting a successful group for years, yet she must have been only 20. She alone can carry this band to the semi-fame of MTV videos and Carling Tent at Reading.

After some searching I dfound the band in question and yes she is fit and my gosh dont she know it Silvermaker
uncle jack should be checked out, one radio presenter had this to say about em
"High octane, adrenalin fuelled, hairy balled rock, with big riffs and a singalong tag line that will keep you up all night. Heads down, eyes closed, do the mindless boogie at it's finest - another classic track from your favourite mothers brother. Well done - another one for the show, I think Uncle Jack are now the resident show openers, as there's never a dull moment when you play one of their tracks. This is rock and I love it."
