Well obviously we can always natter and stuff at gigs, but every now and then it's good to make things happen. There's an informal meeting this evening (where one of the things we'll do is get a PROPER artful meeting together in the near future, but after this evening it will probably be a bit less vague.
Liverpool Joe is on board to co-ordinate stuff like that and also writes so can translate some of my waffles into english English
Ideas a gogo...

Darn, a good natter and Artful is go.
Also have a new venue on board this year with LOADS of stuff going on through October. They do buy one get on free on drinks before 9pm so there will be a proper meeting there on Tuesday September 12th if anybody fancies it.
DJ Stereoslapper is going to launch an exciting new travelling circus of rock n roll club fun called Panda Power on 9th October.
Sharing Sheaths are gonna help co-ordinate stuff, plus seek out art and designers and assist on the films side. Plus stage a live music/dance event. I've had some street dancers get in touch so that could be cool.
We have a basic listing of buzz bands that are already involved, and when the bills are confirmed we can add more artfulness. Perhaps some art and drawing during a set. Also looking to exhibit photographers. And stuff.
There are a couple of live recordings in the pipeline, too.
Need to sort out some kind of little zine for listings. LiVe Bar will be one of the places to pick up info during Artful (which is handy as it's just by Deptford Bridge DLR station and on the walk/bus hopping between Greenwich and New Cross)
Joe is looking into a little funding to help with staging costs but the event has been set up to happen independently, with any help being a bonus.
Have had some great ideas from various friends too, so it's good to start putting them together...
...and stuff.

After more informal meetings...
Snakes n Ladders Records posse have come on board, helping to organise shows
Might have the use of a van for transporting bands / amps / nutters with megaphones
Artful will provide some of the bands for this year's Venue gig which will be the Deptford X launch party ball
14 October hope to get a loop made for the screens of the LiVe Bar as well as photography. Live On Broadway is open to all
Listings are updated, and apart from one or two things to add, more or less done now. Anybody that would like to help spread the word please email inbox at music tourist board dot co dot uk
Funds raised include for Shelter, Oxjam and a non registered charity for pro active rising bands.
Any photographers, zines etc coming billed as part of the line up, artful stylee
The Blue Light District helping out on the artwork side and also running film nights
As more than half of Artful happens in South East London, New Cross Inn, Dirty South (Lewisham) and Live Bar (Deptford) will be places to pick up listings/discount flyers etc, the latter has a buy one get one free thing with selected booze before 9pm too so will be a bit of a hanging out place as well as having a fine bill of events all of October (just waiting to add those to artful listings).
Updated listings are at the Be Artful Forum http://com2.runboard.com/bartful and available as a PDF from the inbox... email above
and stuff

FEATURING
586
London Trash pop kids 586 sound like a night drinking alcopops in the park, bottled into under-three-minute portions of headstrong, hyperactive agit punk. They're '70s glam-punks The Rezillos running from the rozzers, they're Art Brut spilling the Long Blondes cider. So good, we'd even hold their hair back when they're inevitably being sick next to the swings.Already caused a storm with their now sold out single "We got bored" their new one is out this Autumn. http://www.myspace.com/586
ROSE KEMP!! A 21 year old with an impossibly rich and reaching voice accompanied by shimmering electric guitars thread paths between the prog of Mogwai and The Mars Volta, the two combining to carry content that is overwhelmingly contemporary and sets her firmly alongside the likes of Carina Round and PJ Harvey. Her songs and sets have earned her appearances at umpteen festivals, National Radio airplay, and support slots with the likes of The Subways, Cranebuilders, Gravenhurst, James Yorkston, King Creosote and Duke Special. Once youve heard her youll never forget it, her songs stick in your soul and pulse in your brain like nothing else on earth. Rose Kemp will rock your World. http://www.myspace.com/rosekemp
THE SAILPLANES
The reviews say it all “Make a glorious noise that strips all of the best bits from Sonic Youth and Electrelane” “refreshingly divergent sound”, Their New EP”The Deepest Red” will be available to buy. “In no way does ‘The Deepest Red’ feel lightweight or unbalanced; partly due to the powerhouse drumming of Yola, punchy and with robotic precision, and partly due to the evocative edginess that comes from the vocals of Stacey and Tim”. Expect some noise. http://www.myspace.com/thesailplanes
PENNY BROADHURST! Penny Broadhurst comes from a small hamlet in the Yorkshire Dales, but currently resides in dirty old Leeds with her long-suffering husband. She is a musician, actor, singer, writer and spoken word artist. Her epic track "Rhythm Rebel" opens up GIITCD.Here's what the critics say:
"A good strong dose of Northern attitude or humour. I'm sure if you put Penny Broadhurst into the internet you'll find out plenty about her...if you dare!" Patrick Wolf
"This Leeds lass comes across like your mum's fave Victoria Wood spitting out the rhymes of Mike Skinner - one much, much less annoying than that sounds. There's fire in Broadhurst's belly and bile in her brain, while her fiery spoken witticisms rock and roar. You can't mosh to poetry, but if you could, then you'd mosh to this." NME
