Hailing from the quite bizarrely fashionable West London, (Peoples) Republic of Yorkshire, and somewhere in Scotland named in honour of their singer, PAPER CUTS have ripped up the rulebook and spat it into the face of mediocrity. Coming on live like a hyperactive At The Drive-In they sound like a punk rock Talking Heads or a heavy metal Killers. With songs catchier then syphilis they’ve been deafening audiences all over the country and with regular airplay, major label interest and their recent support slots with Hell Is For Heroes, The band features Ross from Symposium on vocals:

In 2004 London pair Nicolas Biscuit and Matt Biscuit (formely of Art Brut and the Art Goblins) formed The Video Club. They are the sleaziest thing this side of Prince creating a sound Dubbed “Regency Hardcore” they combine electro beats with tales of depravity.
“The VC unleash a synth fuelled romp, which had it been released a couple of years ago would have been tarred with the electroclash brush and discarded into the dustbin of camp novelty. Fortunately for them (and us) songs like 'National Trust (I'm the King of England)' are propelled by sufficiently arse shaking beats and compulsive synth stabs, and if the songs don't get you, singer Matt Biscuit's rogueish charms will.” (JoyZine)

South London four-piece NAKERU melodic, tuneful, indie pop has been earning rave reviews all year. Taking their influences from the Pixies, The Beach Boys, and Blur, Drowned in Sound reckon they are "Supernaturally catchy harmonising pop." They recently Won an XFM unsigned award, you must catch this band before they become huge.

A super tuneful alternative rock band from Cardiff they are inspired by the fuzz of the Pixies and the tunes of Dinosaur Junior. Releasing a brace of brilliant singles and touring hard this year has seen them push on towards a new album release.

DEXY got on a stage and sang at the end of last year. He accidentally went down the proverbial storm with audience members who thought he was playing cover versions. But they were his own songs. The honey vocalled acoustic set is an added twist from his more familiar role of bass, backing vocals and star jumps in a Corporation Blend recently described as Mars Volta meets mexican gun punk... Or as a live review in Damn Pest described, "an arresting contrast to the full band's red-glare melodic caveman assault, twisty and compelling in its own right. Nice concentrated serpentine vibe". Dexy is a big fan of Elliot Smith, and Quasi, Elliot Smith's backing band and close friends have given a big thumbs up to December, the track up at MySpace. Come and see for yourself
