Indie Dad review of the night

Tim sailplane- 10-16-2006
Yay for 'proper' indie!
I like his turn of phase, even though the review is a harsh but fair assessment of a somewhat laboured gig (for us) in a venue with god-awful sound.

B1oodFlower- 10-16-2006
I've been sent some pictures. I'll put them up tomorrow.

Love_Libs- 10-16-2006
dreadful review. I hope he's not expecting references. fiar play on being an ageing rocker down with the kids and attending today's events, but condescending and blase, not too mention short and badly written, ugh. "Well done for Rose Kemp and 586 for giving of their time, though I didn't much like Rose and I didn't see 586."

We'll let you know.

B1oodFlower- 10-16-2006
None of the "proper" reviewers I had on the guestlist came. Although I did see someone interviewing Rose Kemp so there maybe a review or two in the offing.

The Charm Offensive- 10-16-2006
I've finally been persuaded by 'Love Libs' to sign up for this forum, I know him from a "Football Manager" forum of all places.

I'm a friend of Ben and Adam (Nosferatu D2) and was at this gig last week. Not sure what else to really. A shame the turn out wasn't a little better, but a nice effort.

Welcome, How long did you stay for?It got a bit busier later. But I agree in an ideal world it could have been heaving.Good night all told though.

The Charm Offensive- 10-16-2006
I left towards the end of Rose Kemp.

I hope you broke even and made a profit for charity. I will grab one of those compilation CDs once the 'proper' copy is officially released.

Love_Libs- 10-16-2006
That's right, a quite strange connection (charm_offensive recognised giittv from our gushing reviews of Nosferatu D2 when I mentioned them on the other forums).

What's even MORE strange is that an actual user on the other forums started a thread about his band, the band he is a member of.

That band is Los Campensinos! ohmy.gif

We broke even(its quite expensive to hire out the turtle) and made a tiny amount for charity, but the main aim was to raise awareness of the compo so thanks for coming. biggrin.gif

He's a blogger, not a rock critic. He spent his own money going to check out me and The Sailplanes, which he has wanted to do for ages. He wrote about the things he liked and didn't write about/stay for the things he wasn't interested in. Y'know, a normal punter. He writes mini reviews as a way of blogging about his life without divulging all about what he had for tea and how depressed he is. Like many people. You're the condescending one.

Oh and fuck off with the ageing rocker bit. I like it when it isn't all under-30s at a gig. In fact, it puts me off when it is.

Love_Libs did with reference to the reviewer, as if the opinion of anyone over 30 is that of worthless scum trying to get, and I quote, "down with the kids".
