Isobel Campbell: Yay or nay?

I can't really decide, myself. But probably.

Yay from me.

P J natch!

I'm with Tim, and I'm going to have to mention Sleater Kinney now. Not because I think they're "hot" but because if they caught you all writing sexist drivel like this they'd probably kill you. wink.gif

Ah come on alot of acts use their sexuality to sell records. I know its slightly sexist to talk about female muscians and how attractive some of them are(Me and Tim are well aware of that)in this manner, but at the end of the day its not a crime. And everyone's welcome to talk about male musicians in the same manner, personally I don't care.

True, being a sex object is all part of the job of being a rock star.

On the other hand it's interesting that people are commenting on what they see as a high proportion of women in bands, when my perception is that women are still under represented in indie guitar bands. I don't know how we'd go about quantifying it to see whose assumptions are more accurate.

Being a musician in a band regardless os sex and contrary to current popular belief takes fucking years of sitting in your bedroom playing guitar, boys just seem to have more patience for doing so.....I can talk about guitars for hours and I love them more than any other inanimate object. BUT Ihave met very mfew girls who do the same and very many guys who do.
There are exceptions to every rule, Stacey Sailplaine and Rebecca Ciccone to name two who love guitars as much as me!

People will ALWAYS use looks/ image to sell records even if it is anti image.

Hilary Woods (ex JJ72), PJ Harvey, Donna Mathews (ex Elastica) and all the female members of The Soho Dolls.

Love_Libs- 10-06-2006
yes good point, missed Shirley Manson.

There are some female musicians that are just intoxicating as a whole figure, PJ Harvey and Carina Round being two that spring to mind for me. Boy or girl, it's always the voice you fall in love with first.

The ginger Girl Aloud is awesome.

In fact Girls Aloud are just great. I can't watch Biology video without thinking bad, bad, EVIL thoughts.

Now normally I'd agree, being a big fan of good looking red heads. Problem is she isn't actually all the cute. Except for in the said Biology video, which is probably every indie kids secret wet dream.

Hey can someone explain the sex appeal that Karen O is supposed to have? Anyone? Seriously I just don't get it. dry.gif
