The NME didn't really start on The Darkness until after they'd become sort of big, though. The Darkness happened so feckin' quickly it's hard to tell! But look at them now, they're buggered.

That's because - whatever they say - people still view them as a novelty act, and you just aren't going to get the same reaction with a second album from a novelty act. Look at Jive Bunny.

Oh come on, the second Jive Bunny album was fabulous.. and bet you didn't even listen to it, just played it the once, and rejected it because it was fashionable to!!!

It's just that when I suggested that being ignored by the NME was a good thing, Kate's reply implied that Dogbox were desperate for the publicity.

I didn't mean it like that! I just couldn't work out how it would be a good thing to be ignored by something that would tell lots of people about the label & bands. But what would I know? I live in Australia and I've never even read the NME. Ignore me.

Sorry, I thought you were Kate from Dogbox. A schoolboy error... giittv/confused.gif

The NME just took the piss out of the Darkness for ages and ages, and then the Darkness got really big, with no help from the NME cos they'd just been taking the piss out of them, and the NME suddenly wanted to be all nice to them and the Darkness refused to have anything to do with it.

And what does it matter, anyway?
They'll have made all the cash they need.
They just need to reformat their look and do a comeback tour.
