"Dear Friends,

As some of you will know already, I have been working with a bunch of like-minded (and similarly busy) people over the past year or so to create a brand new, fully legal internet radio station, inspired by the life and work of the much-missed British DJ John Peel. Dandelion Radio started broadcasting in mid-June and, as we've had a week or two of clear broadcasting, we now feel that it's an appropriate time to start spreading the word!

In an age where terrestrial radio stations are increasingly moving towards automated output, combining pre-recorded DJ links with a predictable playlist, and where most internet radio stations seem to be simply a stream of uploaded MP3s with no effort on the part of the DJ, our aim is to provide a challenging, unpredictable and often uncompromising mix of new and old music, selected by DJs who love it and presented by those DJs in a traditional radio style in programmes recorded as live. We want to serve the needs of the people who create and distribute new and interesting music and, thereby, provide a unique listening experience to listeners, with the spirit of John running through all we do.

We currently have 5 DJs providing 8 hours of original and challenging music, running 3 times per day, 24/7.

You can listen to Dandelion Radio NOW!! Simply CLICK HERE! Or, if that doesn't work, TRY CLICKING HERE:

My own first programme for Dandelion Radio is 2 hours long and broadcasts at the following times GMT throughout the day: 04:00, 12:00 and 20:00. If you're in the UK, add 1 hour for British Summer Time (BST), if you're in Europe, add 2 hours for Central European Time (CET), etc. Visit here for more information on converting to your local time.

This first programme of mine features new albums by Rasha Shaheen of Bristol, England, and cobSOn from Montpellier in France, as well as new material from a mixture of signed and unsigned artists, including Geese, The Hatepinks, Books On Tape, Listen With Sarah, Mogwai, Creme De Menthe, Beecher, Samim, Belle & Sabastian, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Architecture In Helsinki, Mazel Source, The Prototypes and Audio Werner. Plus we drop in one or two oldies for good measure, including the recently departed and completely irreplaceable Ivor Cutler. As always, full information on how to get hold of the material played and how to contact the artists is provided as the programme progresses.

You can find out more about Dandelion Radio by visiting DandelionRadio.com, and you are also more then welcome to visit my MySpace page.

Hope you get the chance to listen in. Do let me know what you think, or if you have any problems connecting to the broadcast.

With very best wishes to you all,
Neil"
