BIG JOAN

"Paranoia, urban tension and rage brought to a weird sort of sonic life. One of the freshest and most exciting albums for a while." - CD Times

"So this is Big Joan, a discordant, angry, alluring, melodic and startlingly original combination of musicianship and drive. But do you want to know the best thing? You can dance to it too." - Wessex Fly

"Big Joan sound like the terrifically messy result of Erase Errata rocking out with Heart Of Snow. You better believe the hype machine will envelop them soon enough." - www.lightupthesky.com - 'Notes From A Small Island' article on new UK bands on US website 'Light Up The Sky'

"Talented, slightly crazy and exuding the sort of natural confidence and chemistry bands usually possess after thirty years of living in a van together. Overwhelmingly brilliant." -Review of London show in Artrocker/CD Times

"Big Joan are absolutely 100% wonderful live" - More on The October Revolution

VILE VILE CREATURES - if you know anyone who went to Ladyfest Cardiff on the Sunday, just ask them about how bloody great this band is.

So this is what happens when three post graduates make danceable punk rock... After growing tired of facisistic kitsch, passionless scenesters and cliquey male dominated practice rooms, Vile Vile Creatures decided it was time to devour the scene and create their own. The Vile Vile Creatures formed in Manchester at the start of the year and debued at Cardiff Lady fest 2006. With noise guitars (Birthday Party, Bikini Kill) along with bouncy bass lines (Erase Errata, Joy Division) and hardcore drums dancing is yr only option [you know what we mean]! By playing loud and fast at night, they expend the energy that was saved whilst reading Lacan and Baudrillard by day. Their name is inspired from Monique Wittig's The Guerilleres.

FREAKY FORTNIGHT

Freaky Fortnight are based in the South Wales Valleys. The band formed in November 2004 did their first gig in December 2004 and recorded a 3 track demo in February 2005. In March 2005 Freaky Fortnight (aided by beating 37 bands to come 3rd in Battle Royale's first Battle of the Bands) slowly began to establish themselves on the South Wales valleys scene. In July 2005 Freaky Fortnight hooked up with valleys DIY collective and punk label Cat Corpse Records home to excellent underrated underground bands such as MOOK and FESTERIN NUN. After this the band spent a weird week in a remote farmhouse in West Wales recording 10 songswith NickP an up and coming producer from Athens, Greece. 3 of these tracks were released with Cat Corpse as 50 limited edition EP's in October 2005 but the release didn't really get distributed further than family and friends! Freaky Fortnight featured in the second Cat Corpse Junk Fanzine and compilation cd which is out now (if you don't see it around anywhere check out the online version on www.catcorpserecords.com). Early 2006 saw the band playing some crazy all nighter gigs in Bristol, London and Manchester with the best underground party organisers GASH collective and SCRAP records and did a small UK tour toured with Seattle band, Red Martian in June 2006. The band are currently saving up to record a new collection of songs in October 2006, again with NickP this time at his studio in Athens, Greece.
