Live Music / Rock (launch party) THE PATH TO THE SILENT COUNTRY by NEBRASKA
NEBRASKA + THE HEDRONS + WILLIAM @ Water Rats, Pentonville Road, Kings Cross, London N1
Doors 8pm. Advance tickets £5 from http://www.themonto.com or £6.50 on the door.

Nebraska’s debut album, The Path To The Silent Country is launched this day on Hometown Jam Records. It’s a bit of a special occasion asMichael Nebraska explains at http://www.myspace.com/nebraskamusic
“The youthful degenerates in attendance will not only be the first to have the opportunity to purchase our debut album along with t-shirts, badges and other visual propaganda but also the first, and possibly only, group of blessed individuals to hear the album played live in its' entirety.
Blag and bluster aside, this is a very special moment for us as a band. We've worked very hard for many years to get to this point, falling on deaf ears more often than has been bearable but always supported by a core group of friends and followers who have always kept our ambition and hope where they should be - in every breath we draw and in every note we play. We know we're lucky too. Not many people get to live their dreams.
What more to say? Buy our record? come to our show? Well, that would be great but the main thought occupying my mind is that if a few aimless losers like us can make a record and actually have people want to hear us, then the possibilities for everyone, no matter what their ambitions, seems endless.”

Tues 03 Oct until 29 Oct : THE CLOCKHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY present TWELFTH NIGHT
Cross-dressing, love, jealousy, mistaken identity, marriage & conflict - all in one show! “If you thought Shakespeare was old and stuffy, think again” (The Wharf).
Following their highly acclaimed debut production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, The Clockhouse Theatre Company return to the Greenwich Playhouse (Greenwich Station forecourt) with another high-octane, bold and full-of-fun rendition of a Shakespeare Classic - Twelfth Night. Produced by Dave King, directed by Maggie Edwards. “Vibrant and clever” (TNT Magazine).
Run and managed entirely by actors, the company allows an organic and fresh approach to popular theatre performance and provides a forum in which the actors themselves can challenge their performance and produce inspired theatre. “Our main aim with all our plays is to make Shakespeare enjoyable to as many people as possible. “The emphasis with ‘Twelfth Night’ will be on fun - often it is performed with attention to the tragic elements and people forget it is actually a comedy. We want to open Shakespeare up to the masses with a performance that both Shakespeare lovers and virgins will enjoy equally. This play is a family show and suitable for children, with whom 'A Midsummer Night's dream' was a great hit!".The Clockhouse Theatre Company is delighted to be returning to the Greenwich Playhouse; a theatre which has built a formidable reputation.

Taming Caine : Self proclaimed 'femail fronted Precious Metal band' TAMING CAIN are Laura, Greg, Simon, Vashti and Sarah. So... If you like to rock out with yr **** out, (or anything else out, come to that), get down the front and bang yr ****in' head. http://www.tamingcain.tk/
Bidgie Reef + The Gas : "From Jazz to Grunge...with the worldly wisdom of Ian Dury. Their stories are like films, their air deep in classy celebrity". B.R.A.T.G. also compered the launch of the first Artful, they know how to make any night at OCCASION.

Live Music / Rock/Pop - 2bob presents WILLIAM + NEBRASKA + DEXY + 2bob DJs - at The Fox & Firkin, Lewisham High Street, London SE13. 9pm-1am - £0!
The thriving activity at the legendary Fox & Firkin courtesy of 2bob, Kooba Radio, The Blue Light District, Orange & Blue Studios, After School Music, Foxfest and a wealth of truly great art, aural or otherwise, over the last couple of years made the Lewishambles quarter of Rocklands a reality. All this and free entry too. Who said the spirit of rock n roll was dead.

William : “They stumble and slip occasionally but never fall, lurching between wall-of-sound frenzy and sweetly picked melody.” (Drowned In Sound). The debut single Aperture/Five Minute Wonder on Tough Love Records a few months ago, let music writers express what they've wanted to say about the art rock band they've been waiting for. “Urgent angular guitars, Gavin William’s frenzied yelps and some winning razor sharp melodies combine to create the true beauty that is ‘Five Minute Wonder’.” (New Noise) "Deftly executed guitar cacophony amongst well-played, catchy rhythm and bass." (God Is In The TV). http://www.wearewilliam.com + http://www.myspace.com/wearewilliam

Nebraska : Deservedly adored by those that know. Word is getting out. Dramatic, poetic and anthemic, Nebraska combine modernity and classicism to pack a hard punch in a velvet glove. The can't-stand-still beats, iconic guitar sound and the intelligent lyrics crooned by Michael’s 40-a-day choirboy voice weave with washes of wonderful other-worldliness over smooth running bass. Nebraska deliver the three minute pop song and seven minute epic with the same level of passion. Every song is a single, each its own classic. Legendary producer to the legends, Adrian Hall, has discovered Nebraska and The debut album, 'The Path To The Silent Country' is out this week. They’re appearing live on home turf. This is the sound that stars make... http://www.myspace.com/nebraskamusic

Dexy : Haunting Pop-Melody supremo, Dexy first got up on stage to sing last October. Used to singing backing vocals and playing guitar in cult rock bands, it was a brave first for him. The very positive response that his honey toned vocals and soul prodding tunes had, probably astonished him as much as everybody else. Nowadays, he’s much in demand, with even Elliott Smith’s band among those singing his praises. This year he played at the City Showcase event in Goldsmiths and less than a year after starting his career, found himself on the same bill as Bob Dylan at Bournemouth Festival and working with ex-Mansun front man, Paul Draper, on Paul's new material. His fine debut ep (due later this year) deserves to be a hit. http://www.myspace.com/dexyspace
