586
London Trash pop kids 586 sound like a night drinking alcopops in the park, bottled into under-three-minute portions of headstrong, hyperactive agit punk. They're '70s glam-punks The Rezillos running from the rozzers, they're Art Brut spilling the Long Blondes cider. So good, we'd even hold their hair back when they're inevitably being sick next to the swings.Already caused a storm with their now sold out single "We got bored" their new one is out this Autumn. http://www.myspace.com/586
"Arcade Fire meets Art Brut" says Conor Editor NME
"Bis meets the B52's" says Andy 'Come-out-2nite' Quirk
ROSE KEMP!! A 21 year old with an impossibly rich and reaching voice accompanied by shimmering electric guitars thread paths between the prog of Mogwai and The Mars Volta, the two combining to carry content that is overwhelmingly contemporary and sets her firmly alongside the likes of Carina Round and PJ Harvey. Her songs and sets have earned her appearances at umpteen festivals, National Radio airplay, and support slots with the likes of The Subways, Cranebuilders, Gravenhurst, James Yorkston, King Creosote and Duke Special. Once youve heard her youll never forget it, her songs stick in your soul and pulse in your brain like nothing else on earth. Signed to "One Little Indian" her new album is out this year, she is touring with a full band which will enhance her powerful live perfomances. Rose Kemp will rock your World. http://www.myspace.com/rosekemp
Dark and sinister yet alluring and beautiful at the same time, how this music manages to combine such pretty and hideous sides is a mystery to me. - Dan Newman, www.joyzine.co.uk
Rose Kemp begins proceedings, with what can only be described as a beautiful performance... those whove made the effort can feel very smug that theyve got to see someone very special. If you havent heard of her, take PJ Harvey and give her even more gutsy depth, with a little more soul and you're kind of getting there. - Polly Weeks, www.gigwise.com
HEY GRAVITY!
Hey Gravity! described by Drowned In Sound as "A hybrid of the venemous Karen O combined with the sultry confidence of Debbie Harry", Hey Gravity! front-woman Justine takes no prisoners. The band are a boys-n-grrlz rock machine that have made a strong impression since they launched this year(to a PACKED OUT Camden Barfly headline in February - not bad for a first gig!)from the ashes of the John Peel approved M.A.S.S.Since then They've been ‘Unsigned Artist Of The Week’ at Karmadownload, played the BPI's British Music Week event (with Razorlight/Belle & Sebastian) and been bigged up by Xfm's John Kennedy. Catch their rocking live set, that's got people talking.
"A punky Doris Day with an amazing voice and a wild stare on vocals, a sultry brunette rock siren on guitar. No wonder a lad in the audience got up on a table in excitement at one point." (On And Off Stage)
The reviews say it all “Make a glorious noise that strips all of the best bits from Sonic Youth and Electrelane” “refreshingly divergent sound”, Their New EP”The Deepest Red” will be available to buy. “In no way does ‘The Deepest Red’ feel lightweight or unbalanced; partly due to the powerhouse drumming of Yola, punchy and with robotic precision, and partly due to the evocative edginess that comes from the vocals of Stacey and Tim”. Expect some noise. http://www.myspace.com/thesailplanes
PENNY BROADHURST! Penny Broadhurst comes from a small hamlet in the Yorkshire Dales, but currently resides in dirty old Leeds with her long-suffering husband. She is a musician, actor, singer, writer and spoken word artist. Her epic track "Rhythm Rebel" opens up GIITCD.Here's what the critics say:
"A good strong dose of Northern attitude or humour. I'm sure if you put Penny Broadhurst into the internet you'll find out plenty about her...if you dare!" Patrick Wolf
"This Leeds lass comes across like your mum's fave Victoria Wood spitting out the rhymes of Mike Skinner - one much, much less annoying than that sounds. There's fire in Broadhurst's belly and bile in her brain, while her fiery spoken witticisms rock and roar. You can't mosh to poetry, but if you could, then you'd mosh to this." NME
This sounds great. If someone wants to pay me to come (I did come up with the name after all) then I'll be there.

Why is everything in CAMDEN??
Well not EVERYTHING, we actually did one in Cardiff at Chapter ealier in the year.
But its a good place to launch a rekkid, innit.

Love_Libs- 09-19-2006
Bill, if you're having trouble with that last tbc spot, NosferatuD2 have said they would be available to play and would relish the chance. So for consideration, NosferatuD2!
B1oodFlower- 09-19-2006
Yeah they offered but didn't get back to me when I gave them full details. Its not so much we are having trouble with the last slot, there's plenty of bands interested its just finding a band that we like and can bring people. But they are one of the ones under consideration for sure.
Love_Libs- 09-19-2006
ok well they have now said they are available and up for it. (think because we've given them some favourable reviews over the last 6 months! they like us!)
LiamMc- 09-19-2006
Nosferatu D2 are brilliant. I've still got to review their demo!
B1oodFlower- 09-19-2006
Well I'll talk it over with Mark. But I do have to consider who will bring people in as well, its a harsh game this promoting lark. I don't want to end up heavily out of pocket.
Jim Rhesus- 09-19-2006
Too fucking right, the turtle are chargeing for a charity show which in theoery they shouldnt be!
I still have the cash for the doggies stashed I need to get it to the bank but i am flat out, the metro charged us a very little bit but there is no point doing a show if you can't make the cash for charity and get the people in.
Could be worth collaberating with some DJ's , who have you got? How long have you got the turtle for? Whast tie does it close and what time do you have to get the bands off by?
